Seventies Fashion
Seventies Fashion Coming Back?
It is strange how things come around again and again in the fashion industry. When I grew up, seventies fashion was viewed as a joke.
Oh sure, people wore 1970s fashion to talent shows and Halloween parties, but that was it. It all seemed like such a humorous way of dressing..
There is nothing appealing about 70s clothing. If there was any distinguishing characteristic of 70s fashion, it was that it all seemed to be as
over-the-top and ridiculous as possible. The paisley shirts, bell-bottom pants, and the rest of it all looked absolutely awful.
When I saw That Seventies Show become popular, I thought it would be a brief thing. I could not picture the seventies becoming cool, after
all. Sure, there had been “Dazed and Confused,” but that was just a joke. Nonetheless, people seemed to take it more seriously than they really
should have. Soon, seventiesfashion was everywhere. First it became all the rage in colleges, then the high school kids caught on, and
now it is almost acceptable for everyone.
Seventies Fashion Was Refreshing
Don't get me wrong, I love retro fashion from time to time. I loved the 1960s, and I love sixties fashion. I have even worn bell-bottoms a few
times. Nonetheless, seventies fashion is too silly for words. Who has ever heard of wearing disco clothing as a serious statement! And
what about those leisure suits? Will that be the next fad? I have always been a T-shirt and jeans kind of guy most of the time. I dress up in
fashionable clothing every now and then, but I have never really been dedicated to it. Nonetheless, seventiesfashion is the only thing
that I will categorically refuse to wear. It is just too silly for words.
Still, there is something refreshing about the flamboyance of seventies fashions. Maybe it was that everyone was doing so many drugs
during the 1970s, but whatever the reason, people didn't feel at all hesitant about making a statement. If there is anything good about the
fashion of the seventies, it is that it is loud, bold, and unafraid. The fact that it is silly puts a bit of a damper on the effect, but even
still, I see how seventies fashion appeals to some people. Nevertheless, seventies fashions will never be for me. I like
classic fashion that can survive generation after generation. Give me a T-shirt, jeans, and a leather jacket any day!
