Water Shoes
Water Shoes Information
The other day my daughter and I spent the first nice day of Spring outside together. She was walking around the outside of the porch and she
found her water shoes. Oops. I forgot to put them away at the end of last summer, and they spent the winter lying on the ground by the house.
They were most definitely destroyed, and I guess that’s okay. She’ll need a larger size, and they aren’t very expensive. I just took it as
another sign that my mind is just not what it used to be.
I never really thought about buying her water shoes each summer until my mother suggested it. I never used them when I was a kid, and I did
spend a lot of time in the pool. I guess she is just overly protective of her granddaughter, and that I can understand. My mom is not the toughie
that she used to be, and I think the water shoesare just one of the many signs of this change. She always protected me when I was a child, but
she was never prone to freak out about anything. Now, that has all changed.
Water Shoes Tips
No matter what her reasons for the watershoes were, I do find they are a great idea, at least for us in our situation. I don’t take my
daughter to the town pool, but rather, we have one for her in our backyard. It’s nothing special, just the average kiddy blow up pool. However,
our yard is full of rough spots, and there are a lot of bees around in the summer. I would rather she stopped on something with the water shoes
on her feet than to do so barefoot.
Water shoes are a good idea if you like to swim in lakes or creeks. There is one place that my dad likes to take us at least once a year for a
family picnic. It has a really great creek running through it, and the water is beautifully clear. Some is deep enough to swim in, but we usually
just wade in and look around. My daughter loves to go in, and the water shoes help her keep her footing as well as stops her from getting cut on
sharp stones. Maybe this year I will get wise and buy a pair for myself. That way, perhaps I could protect my own feet much like I do hers.
